TPSL® Grape Specific Soil Test
For Vines of Distinction. For Growers Who Demand More.
The Soil Beneath the Vintage Matters
In viticulture, every detail matters—the soil, the slope, the subtleties of each microclimate. Your soil is more than a foundation— it is the soul of your vineyard. The TPSL Plant Natural® Grape-Specific Soil Test was created exclusively for vineyard professionals who understand that terroir is not just a romantic notion—it's a measurable force.
This analysis goes far beyond basic nutrient panels. It delivers deep insight into both topsoil and subsoil layers, identifying the key mineral balances, mobility, and biological activity that shape vine vigor, fruit quality, and ultimately— your vintage.
A Test Tailored for the Vine
We don’t take shortcuts. Neither should you. This test includes:
Soil Chemistry & Structural Foundations
- Texture – Affects drainage, root exploration, and water/nutrient movement
- pH – Controls the availability of every nutrient your vine needs
- Carbonates (CO₃) – Excess levels can cause iron lockout and chlorosis in grapes
- Electrical Conductivity (EC) – A measure of salinity stress and ionic balance
Organic Matter & Nutrient Baseline
- % Active Organic Matter – Indicator of biological life and nitrogen potential
- Nitrate-Nitrogen (NO₃-N) – Snapshot of readily available nitrogen
- Phosphate (P₂O₅) – For strong early root development and nutrient exchange
- Potassium (H₂O & CO₂ extractable) – Vital for berry size, sugar accumulation, and stress resilience
- Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium (H₂O & CO₂ extractable) – Affect vine structure, water regulation, and long-term soil condition
Micronutrients with a Macroscopic Impact
- Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Copper (Cu), Boron (B), Molybdenum (Mo)
–
These elements are essential for chlorophyll formation, enzymatic activity, and flowering/fruit set. Imbalances can lead to subtle yet costly yield and quality issues.
Critical Soil Ratios
- Na:Ca and Na:Mg Ratios – Inform on structure, infiltration, and risk of compaction or salinity issues. Particularly relevant for high-value vineyard soils.
Dual-Depth Sampling for Deeper Understanding
Because roots do not stop at 12 inches—and neither should your analysis.
Two depths required:
- Topsoil (0–12")
- Subsoil (12–24")
This approach allows us to evaluate the complete root zone —critical for understanding nutrient stratification, water dynamics, and long-term sustainability of the vineyard floor.
Included in Your Results:
- 2-Page Color-Coded Lab Report
Designed for clarity. Includes a side-by-side view of topsoil and subsoil metrics. - Grape-Specific Recommendations
Precision guidance tailored for wine or table grape production. No generic crop data. - Plant Nutrient Removal Rates
Estimates to support long-term nutrient balancing and sustainable yield potential. - Fertilizer Guidelines
Thoughtfully neutral. Designed to support fruit quality, not just growth.
Test Requirements & Turnaround
- Two samples required: One topsoil (0–12") and one subsoil (12–24")
- Minimum per sample: 3–4 cups
- Turnaround Time: 5–7 business days after sample receipt
