Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University Faces Defunding

Two weeks ago the Iowa lawmakers voted to eliminate sustainable agriculture research center by removing funding for the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University.

The Leopold Center's programs focus heavily on organics, cover crops, water quality, and most recently long-term climate research, local foods, soil health, and biodiversity.

The roughly $1.5 million in funding, previously allocated for the the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, will now go towards the Iowa Nutrient Research Center if Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad chooses to sign this appropriations bill into law.
